Could this be a way of uniting the traditional press with the digital world? This news story, launched by BBC World and other media players, brought Harry Potter to mind and those impressive newspapers with moving pictures. This month, subscribers of the New York and Los Angeles Entertainment Weekly, will receive a magazine with images appearing on a two-inch mobile phone display, that will produce almost 40 minutes worth of television clips from US TV network CBS, as well as the cutting-edge publicity promotion for Pepsi Max.

The device developed by Americhip and known as ‘video-in-print’, works by using digitalised information held in a microchip. Like Michio Kaku demonstrates through his website (http://mkaku.org/) and with his documentary series ‘Visions of the Future’: “change is occurring and it is extremely fast and unstoppable”. Nanotechnology means that we will soon be making chips of increasing potential and of a market-value of only one US dollar cent. Perhaps one day the press will be similar to and as colourful as that of the wizards of Harry Potter. We’ll see what the other rival television channels have to say, who are currently experiencing rapid growth.
