With O2, Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Vodafone, Apple deepens the market game in the Touch Phone industry
From lainformación.com via cincodias.com and other sources, it is observed that the leaders in the market for the 3G Touche Phone industry and more, are moving contracts in the face of a soon-to-be turbulent market with more than 30 models which will be launched in the months leading up to December 2009.
Our readings indicate that the most potent challenger for the iPhone and the BlackBerry, which lead the Touch Phone industry, appears to be the Motorola CLIQ, but, whichever stands out in innovation will launch alone in a limited market during the coming season (see CLIQ an innovation from Motorola).
Therefore, one can hope that the indisputable iPhone will not lose any more ground in the market. I read that Apple will expand its coverage of distributors, taking advantage of the term “opportune” from the exclusivity contract with O2, part of the Telefónica de España, S.A. company, who will continue with iPhone but in a non-exclusive form. In moving this component in distribution channels in Europe, iPhone’s coverage will maximize itself by operating in the UK with the agreement of Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom, and in France with Orange, a subsidiary of France Telecom. This movement will surely include Vodafone and will expand to the global distribution network.
In my opinion, it is a good dual defense system by Apple to protect its leadership in the face of the multiple announcements of new features by its competitors and in attack by opening new sales outlets. Apple added to its ahead of the curve technology the necessary marketing in distribution channels, incorporating for itself the momentum of channels of competition. And perhaps soon we will see novelties in price, allowing the passage to new products from the cutting edge of the Cupertino, California company.
